For Such a Time As This!

CoVid19 women are awesome! It’s been heart-warming to watch women step up to the plate and hit home runs during this time of isolation. (Men are amazing too, but this post is about women.) What is happening in our world now is no ballgame any of us signed up for, and it’s shown me once again how strong women are and our innate ability to mother, protect and survive.

It’s tender to see so many women reach out to family, friends, and strangers to help others with child care, grocery shopping, driving, errands … all in a spirit to be Helpers (thank you Mr. Rogers for the label). For such a time as this!

I’ve watched my daughters and dil’s jump right in and constructively fill the time with quality activities, school schedules, organizing projects, gardening, exploring, responsibility with chores all the way to letting loose and bike in the rain. I’m certain these will be memories down the road your family will treasure!

You’ve got this! Don’t get bogged down looking at the big picture of a long summer – take it one day at a time! Just like labor pains – one pain at a time, and then you breathe, and can commit to one more! The end will come!

A woman and mother I’ve always admired is Marjorie Pay Hinckley, President Hinckley’s wife. Here is a 7 min clip of a funny and fabulous talk she gave at a Women’s Conference in 1999! It’s a treasure and will be worth your 7 minutes to renew your resolve. I echo her advice to have joy in your children. Have joy in your mothering! You have been born for such a time as this! xo
